About Youvacracy

We are driven by a simple mission- redefining democracy.

Youvacracy is a political startup that aims to bring democracy into every day life. Through our understanding of the democratic imagination, systems theory, decolonisation and change via dialogue- we want to revamp global democracy. 2024 is the year of election worldwide. However, is it the year of democracy?

How do media, education, politics, culture and research converge to shape democracy? What value do elections have in today's day and age? How can we engage the youth in every step?

These are a few questions we wish to find answers for.

The concept of democracy is intersectional. It cannot be achieved without climate justice, disability justice, the abolition of caste and racial hegemony and other systems of oppression.

Our Mental Models

Radical Empathy

Intersectional &
Systems Thinking

Decolonial Thought

There is not even a single Member of Parliament (MP) under the age of 30 in the Indian parliament. As per the 2011 Indian Census, the average Indian is 25 years old, whereas the average legislative representative is a good 40 years older, at 65.  In India, only 30 % of the 18-19 age group are enrolled as voters.

52 % of the world is under the age of 30, yet only 2.6 % of MPs comprise the same age group.

However, the youth is not apolitical. The youth is not a homogenous entity. We are constantly evolving, carrying familial ties, whilst also trying to create our own identity.

At Youvacracy, though we give immense importance to the structural barriers (the first stage in the Water of Systems Change Model) such as elections, voter turnout, voter registration, we are primarily working to reform society's mental models.

We are not a political campaign. Nor are we a think tank or a conventional youth led organisation. We are all of those things combined. Hence, we like to call ourselves a political startup.  Being entirely youth led, we work on capacity building, education, research and civic innovation. We aim to foster ross cultural democratic dialogue, civic education, political mentorship and policy development.
